The Sun is a peacock... an orange, pinkish and purply peacock

Borrowed friend's iPhone for the pic above.

This one was taken with my G1 (cellphone). The already low battery died after taking this picture -- I guess it had fulfilled it's destiny.

Was biking at Lake Miramar, San Diego, CA when I was rewarded with this sight. These pictures don't do justice to the real thing. This is the best display of colors I have seen to date. I was completely blown away by the colors and the reflection in the water. Was cursing every 5 seconds that I didn't have a real camera with me.

Who wants some tea?

Was aiming for a "wallpaper" shot with the above two pictures. Did I make it?

I broke my camera before I got here and had to borrow someone else's camera :-(

Sorely missed my Canon SD500 and it's manual settings. Was also raining most of the time. The sky would be sunny/cloudy when I was in the car, and it would literally start pouring down on me as soon as I got out of the car (not exaggerating)!

Anyway, had to do a bit of light/contrast adjustment for the first two pics to compensate for the unfamiliar camera and cloudy sky.

Rural ride along rice paddies

Taken while rattling along on the rural roads of Tamil Nadu, India. Somewhere near Theni on the way back from Munnar, Kerala, India.

Haven't seen such lush green rice paddies as far as the eye can see in quite a while. Felt a wave of satisfaction when I finally got to see this after a long time.

Highway to heaven

Took this one by holding the camera on the roof of the car.

On the way to Sequoia National Park, California.

Closer to heaven...

Brown, green, grey (mountains) and blue (sky),
In the far you should see some snow too.

Makes for a good wallpaper (one of my favorites).

My attempts at waterscape(?) photography.
Near Boyden Cavern, Sequoia National Park, California.

With high mountains on both sides,
And the rustling sound of the river,
I haven't been to any place,
That's more peaceful than here.

From heaven to hell(?)...

Hot and windy Mojave desert.
On the way back from Sequoia National Park.

Adjusted the contrast of the photos to compensate for the bright sun.

Sunny silhouettes...

Any guesses at what camera I used for these pics?

One of my favorite pics. Read further and you will understand why.

I took these pics with my cellphone (G1) camera!! I just can't believe how beautifully they came out.

Had a really tough time taking the picture due to the bright sun making my phone screen practically useless. So, framed the shot in my mind and just moved the camera into my line of sight and clicked. Really happy how the shots turned out.

Hoover dam at night

Shimmering in the dark,
Holding the water back,
The Hoover Dam at night
Is such a wonderful sight.

10 sec exposure without a tripod.
No, I don't have the hands of a surgeon,
just improvised with a concrete ledge :)

Spotlight from heaven?

Upper antelope canyon, AZ

I had a hard time taking this photo without people in the frame. I had only about 1-2 seconds to take this picture.

Nature is an abstract artist

Lower Antelope canyon, AZ, USA.

There were just too many good pictures. So picked a random one.

The mystic moon...

The Moon was once a part of Earth,
And came about by an astronomical accident,
Through werewolves in fairytales,
To life-making tides since enternity,
It continues to be a part of human life, a part of Earth.

Was taken by aligning my camera lens with the eye piece of a small telescope. Took a lot of patience.

Going... Going...

Lunar eclipse on Aug 28th 2007.

Fun (or not so fun) fact: The moon continues to drift away from the earth and will eventually (millons of years) move so far away that there will no longer be any complete solar eclipses.
No more diamond rings :(

It's time to rest...

The idle crane adds a nice touch to the picture, showing the day has come to an end.
Taken at Shelter Island Dr, Point Loma, San Diego, CA.

Daddy, Mommy and little Johnny enjoying the sunset...

Don't the palm trees look like a little family to you?

Clouds and sky blushing at the departing sun...

One of the best reddish tinting, I have seen, from the sun .
If I remember it right, I shot this while in a moving car.
